Drop Fire and Unintended Discharge of Taurus Pistols
In the drop fire and unintended discharge allegations involving Taurus Pistols, a preliminary settlement has been approved in a class action lawsuit against firearms manufacturer Taurus International that alleged faulty design in nine different pistol models that make them likely to discharge when dropped. Taurus pistols subject to these defects include the PT-111 Millennium; PT-132 Millennium; PT-138 Millennium; PT-140 Millennium; PT-145 Millennium; PT-745 Millennium; PT-609; PT-640; and PT-24/7. Nearly 1 million Taurus pistols are affected by this settlement.
A website containing complete information about the benefits of the settlement will be established in August and a final approval hearing it set for January 2016.
Bailey & Glasser attorneys David L Selby, II and John Barrett and M. Todd Wheeles of Morris, Haynes, Wheeles, Knowles & Nelson are representing Chris Carter of Scott County, Iowa, as the named plaintiff on behalf of others who purchased these defective handguns.
